Motivational Monday #1

Hey there!

On this rainy, lazy Monday here in Florida, I decided to write a motivational post. Louise from one of my favorite blogs, Sprinkle of Glitter, does a "motivational Monday" and after reading her posts, I do always feel a bit more motivated to do things. Today I want to do my own motivational Monday because I, along with many others I'm sure, need a pick me up to get the week moving in a positive way.

As I was browsing through my Pinterest boards this morning, I found the above quote. I thought that this was pretty motivational because I know so many people who fill their heads with fears to the point where their fears consume them.
Fear is something that can easily make you change your mind or your goals for the future but they really don't have to. Instead of sacrificing what you want, you should release all fears and just focus on the benefits of what you would receive. For example, you could think about how happy you will be once you accomplish your dream.
I like the old saying "the only thing you have to fear is fear itself" because it's absolutely true. I find that most of the time when people tell me what it is that their afraid of, it's usually something that is very very very unlikely to happen. And I find it quite sad that these people are keeping a fear like that from allowing them to go after a dream. I find that a lot of the time, people fear that they will get judged by their peers or that they won't fit in. The only thing that I can say about these fears it to let them go. We can't be worried about what other people think about us because only WE can live OUR lives.
I have a task for you readers this week. If you find that you are being a bit hesitant about doing something that sounds appealing to you, ask yourself why you are afraid, is it honestly likely to happen, and will it be a positive experience or memory for you. I think that we should take every chance that we are given to go out and experience things without fear.
I'm not saying that we should all go out and go skydiving or anything like that, but when an opportunity comes along to do something like go on a trip with your friends or start working to achieve a career that you want, then you should take it. Life is too short to let your fears get in the way of your dreams, goals, and happiness.
I'm curious to know what some of you reader's dreams are? Do you want to go to college? Do you want to have a certain career? A family? Do you want to move to another state or country? Let me know!

Essie Nail Polish Review

Hello, Lovelies!

Painting my nails is one of my favorite things to do, especially on a night when I'm just staying home. I've tried many polishes over the years but have recently found my new love: Essie brand nail polish.
(These are not my pictures)

I've known about Essie for a while but despite the good reviews, never purchased any of the colors. However, that all changed about 3 weeks ago when I got my first color which is called Play Date (which I'll talk about a little later). As soon as I got home from the store I painted my nails and immediately fell in love with the polish. It dries so smooth and shiny that I didn't even bother with a clear top coat. After about a week of normal wear and tear, the polish still looked pretty much perfect, with just a few chips on the ends.
In the past few weeks I've heard loads of good reviews on the Mint Candy Apple color. I went out with the intention of only getting the one color but then I found another color that I just couldn't leave at the store. I left with Mint Candy Apple and Bikini So Teeny.

My collection so far:

Play Date:
I find that this color dries just a touch darker than what is shown in the picture. I think that this a perfect Summer color. This color was my "intro to Essie" and I think that it made a great first impression.

Mint Candy Apple:
Although I haven't had the chance to use this color yet, I love it in the bottle. Mint is one of my absolute favorite colors so I'm excited to give this a try. Almost every review that I read about this shade was nothing but positive.

Bikini So Teeny:

This is a new color too so I haven't used it yet either. This color is a nice cornflower blue-ish shade. I saw this in the store and new that I had to try it. I'm a person who loves to have my nails painted in colors other than the typical pinks and reds (although I don't mind pink and red) so this is perfect.

All in all, I would have to say that Essie polish is AMAZING! There are a variety of shades to choose from and they are pretty affordable (in my opinion). Here in the U.S, the Essie brand is around $8. Which I will gladly pay $8 for the smoothness, shininess, and long lasting-ness of it. Another benefit is that it dries super fast.

I couldn't encourage people enough to give Essie a try.

If you're reading this I'd love to know your opinions. What do you think about Essie? Any other polishes that you favor? If so, what are they? Let me know in the comments.

Happy nail painting :)

XOXO, Meghan!

A Crafty Friday Night

Hello again!

A few days ago, my mom came to me and asked if I wanted to go through some clothes that she didn't want any more before she took them to a local consignment store. As I was looking through them, I found a plain denim vest and decided to keep it. I figured that I could add something to it to add a little bit of color and make it more me.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to put on the vest but after thinking about it, I finally figured it out. Since I'm a fan of all things British, I decided to put the Union Jack on the back. Lucky for me, the back of the vest has a panel in the middle which made painting a lot easier.

Before I began, I put a piece of tape down the vertical center and the horizontal center of the vest. Next I decided to paint one color at a time.

First I started with the red:

Then I moved on to the white:

And last but not least, I did the blue:

This project took me about 6 hours in total because I let each color dry before I added another. I'm very happy with the way that it turned out and will definitely be wearing this vest.

I hope this post gets your creative side buzzing.

XOXO, Meghan!

Fishtail Braid

Good afternoon Lovelies!

So I'm very excited because I've finally figured out how to do a fishtail braid. Every time I would come across a description with how to achieve them, it would end in failure. My hair is quite thick to begin with and I've got layers so that just adds to the challenge. I figured that since I'm always on YouTube I would try to find a video with some good instructions.

I came across a video of Zoe (from Zoella) and Jim Chapman doing a challenge on the fishtail braid.

I found this video to be extremely good as far as instructions go. I'm pretty darn proud of my end result. Below is the picture of me after my first attempt (please excuse the high neck T-shirt).

Not too shabby if I do say so myself!

If you're trying to master this braid, give the above video a watch!

XOXO, Meghan!

Beginning of a Blog...

Hello everyone!

As my Spring semester of school is finishing up (1 more week!), I've decided that I wanted to find a way to document my Summer. By watching two of my favorite YouTubers, Zoe (Zoella) and Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter), and reading their blogs, I figured that a blog would be the perfect place to do so. I already have a few fun events planned for the Summer such as a trip to Georgia to visit some family & A ONE DIRECTION CONCERT (AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!). Can you tell I'm excited? Along the way I plan to post loads of pictures, possibly some videos (all though I might make a YouTube account for those), and maybe some reviews on hair and makeup products that I like. If you're reading this, welcome to my blog! I hope that I can brighten your day with my posts :)

Thanks for reading,

XOXO, Meghan!
